Bellum/Bella

Can there be beauty in war?

A View of the Fight

Is bellum bella? Does it possess traits

That aestheticians would deem as the good?

Is war the harsh hygiene of the sore straits,

That has shown the face of frights from the hood?

The deadly paint brush drips with blood through scores

Of years running back since man’s very dawn.

Many victims have been killed at the doors.

And in this landscape, blood waters the lawn.

Through millennia, battles have been fought

In the handles of faith, groups, and others.

It’s from the stale palette that folks are taught

That war is lovely and never bothers.

There is nothing about combat that can

Make a girl a woman or boy a man.
