Befriend

It started off as nothing, a mere hi when passing by

Then realizing you’re not too different,

As you talk more and more, words spilling out

Suddenly you’re by their side giggling and smiling

You cherish their presence, the happiness they bring

Every chance you got, you were with them

It was an endless stream of chaos and adventures

But then slowly but surely, bit by bit, piece by piece

It starts to crumble, tears are shed and words are said

Words that felt like a million paper cuts to the heart,

That could never be taken back, words…

Words that made me wish I have never befriended you.
