Because I Dared to Move

A Poem About Dealing with and Crushing Fear and Anxiety #VocalNPM

Darkness...weighed down by darkness...

Afraid to take a step because I can't see.

How am I supposed to move

When I don't know what's in front of me

Waves of fear and anxiety hit me

As I take one small step

As I open up to the possibility

That there's a light beyond this darkness.

The unknown.

That's what scares me.

With each step, I start feeling differently.

Because when I start moving

I start feeling hope and faith arise within me.

And I start believing that there's

Something better waiting for me

Around the corner.

With each step,

I can sense the darkness lifting,

Rather than dreading each step

I start feeling a rush of joy and excitement.

And now I sense myself turning a corner.

The darkness fades with every step

Making things all the more clear.

All because I dared to move.
