Beauty Follows

Beauty has limits, just not the ones we have currently set.

How?

How did we get here?

How did we get to where we are today?

How did we come to the conclusion that starvation results in beauty

And anyone bigger than a size six is just ugly and revolting?

It is as if we are just modeling clay at the mercy of the the artist: The Media.

It is sad, to say the least.

And yet, in the same breath,

We turn around and glorify women who are obese!

We say things like, "Oh, they're so confident, and that's sexy!"

Or, "Real women have curves!"

Do we have to fall on one end of the spectrum or the other

To be considered beautiful?

Can we not be of average size and still claim beauty?

And Photoshop...

WHY Photoshop?!

Is the natural shape of the human body SO offensive

That even magazine editors and ad producers have to alter

What is already beautiful?

All it does is ensure that some out-of-shape woman with low self-esteem

Will buy that magazine,

Try all the featured recipes and workouts like hell,

Wishing she looked like the woman on the cover,

Only to fall short,

And feel her self-esteem plummet even lower when she fails.

Can we not just agree that "Beauty" simply boils down to whether or not we take care of ourselves?

It is not one specific body type,

Or certain features that attribute to attractiveness.

You have to love yourself enough to exert the effort

To take care of yourself, and beauty will follow.
