Battle Scars

Don’t be afraid my child. You’ve got this.

These are my battle scars

Some are deep

Some are shallow

Some were the cause of your words and some of my own

But none were meant to cut my life short

They may have healed over

But the pain remains

The cause for these scars

Are engraved

In the battle of a thousand men

Under a thousand suns

For a thousand years

And will continue until the end of time

Until there is no longer a fight to win

I have been witness to the casualties of such a fight

Brethren who have fallen against their own swords

And perished much too soon

But I promise to you

My friend

That some battles are won

Some are lost

But the war

Is everlasting

And in the end, life trumps death

And love, whether self-made or not, trumps all hate
