Bathroom Mirror

Your last goodbye was a note written in dry-erase marker on my mirror.

"Bathroom Mirror"

You left notes on my bathroom mirror

Of all the things

You were too scared to say to my face.

You left notes on my bathroom mirror

Of thanks and apologies

That you should have said to my face.

Because the thing about leaving notes

On other people’s bathroom mirrors

Right before you leave

Is that it’s cowardly.

You should have said sorry to me,

Told me I wasn’t crazy

Like you said I was.

You should have apologized

For kicking in my bedroom door

And leaving a gaping hole.

But instead, you left me with one more thing

To remember you by.

One more thing to haunt the empty spaces in my brain.

One more thing to make my bleeding heart

Bleed a little harder when I think of you.

You left me with a ghost of you

Written in EXPO marker

On my bathroom mirror.
