Basking in the Flames

A Smoking Hot Ending

Burning your sweatshirt

Wishing I could do the same

To the memories I harbor

They keep my feelings at bay

Something in me wants to stay running

About the flames

Melting away at my core

Once again

Another Ivy League shirt of yours

Sprawled in ribbons across the floorboards

While I cloud myself in cannabis

The flames keeping me company

My eyes seem to slow time itself

The clock hands barely rummaging around the tally marks

Pushing aside the minutes

As I revel in the seconds

That I'm liberated of your presence

Inhaling the smoke without hesitation

In the same manner that I swallowed your venom
