Baptism

A poem about you.

I watch you lean back, and cross your arms delicately at your throat

your thumb in your palm

and your fingers resting atop it.

You accept the water from the rain like a baptism, as it trickles down your hair and chest, beading off of you, seemingly clinging for life, eventually falling to their death.

I fall in love with the way the water never seems to get into your eyes.

In that moment you were the only man I've ever laid my eyes upon. You were the most glorious and beautiful beaming thing I've ever seen.

No sight on earth could ever compare to your eyes.

I want you to consume me, swallow me whole and put all of your faith and love in my stomach.

Take me to the rooftop and kiss me in the showers that rain down upon us as if they were god's tears.

Hold me.

Cradle me.

Become the water in my eyes.
