I'm just a twenty-something lady here trying to find her place in this world!
Dealing with mental illness can be hard. I am no expert, but these are definitely things that I have learned to help yourself or someone you know who struggles with mental illness. These are not listed in any particular order, and I just want to clarify I am not a therapist, just trying to share some helpful tips!

Feel yourself become one Breathe Breathe in the fresh air of the morning sun The trees that play music with the wind Animals that find home within its everlasting brush

You feel the need to protect yourself. You're scared of what could become if you let yourself sink into a relationship. This could be a friend, a significant other, or even family. It's not that you even want them to leave; it's that you don't know what will happen if they stay. That's what horrifies you. It's unknown territory once it gets to a certain point. You curl yourself into this little ball and anyone who tries to come to help you up gets kicked or smacked away until they eventually disappear. Then it's dark.

One day I woke up and realized I needed to try something new! When I was fifteen I was bitten by a dog. Sadly, it left a big scar about two inches on my chin and I was self-conscious about it for YEARS. I always felt like it was the first thing people saw when they looked at me. It was something that always ate away at me and my self-image.
