Talking Witold Gombrowicz's Trans-Atlantyk
Recently I had been working on a few projects with my mentor when she proposed the idea that I, an American of Polish descent, consider reading more work from my ancestry. I of course came to this with my own prejudices, as I always imagined Polish works would be, well, grim to say the least. For reference, at this time the most I had known about Polish would be men like Zdzislaw Basinski, known for his dystopian landscapes of a world conquered by hellish atrocities, or Eli Wiesel, who I had just assumed was Polish because his novel, Night, and if someone is writing about the Holocaust, they must be Polish. Excuse my American naivety.

Why Does YouTube Allow Copyright Abuse?
It’s a question that has come up time and time again. Creators on YouTube have been in a battle for some time now over what is considered a real copyright claim and what is just some ridiculous attack from a stranger over nothing. YouTuber’s (influencers?) are being put in a position where they could be losing everything they have worked for because the content they have created might have miffed someone in the wrong way. With the possibility of losing it all overnight why isn’t YouTube looking into this?

The Importance of Urban Legends and Story Telling
I was always fascinated by the story of the Mothman. It must have something to do with my mother telling me about the creature when I was a little boy. She was reading The Mothman Prophecies by John Keel. My mother is the root of my love of reading and her particular cup of tea is horror. This book, as she told me, was the only story she was never able to finish because of just how horrifying the legend is.

'Hereditary' Review
I was able to finally get seats to see Hereditary. I'll admit I came into the theatre with doubts. Back when I first saw trailers for the film, this being over the winter, I wasn't so impressed with any of it. The production company, A24, has made some great films in the past. The only one that I can say I've seen is The Witch, which I will admit to only seeing because Stephen King recommended it on his Twitter. That film was fantastic. I really am enjoying the way these films are bringing back a type of horror that is barely used anymore, that horror being the creep factor. The distaste that I have for jump scares I think is something any horror fan can agree on. The general feeling of something being wrong. Feeling unsettled the whole film, something we can all appreciate.
