A Voice Amongst the Voiceless
My days are numbered. That much I am sure of. Oppressive, artificial heat from above beats down onto my skin. Everything about my life is intensive. I am trapped here, with so many others, whose faces I see one day and they are gone the next. I look across our prison and connect with a mother with blue eyes and long lashes. She's beautiful, and so full of pain, like myself.

New Year, Same You
"5...4...3...2...1...Happy New Year!" We've all been there. Fireworks ensure that the New Year enters our lives with a bang, music sparks joviality, and spirits rise as the promise for a "New Year, New You" starts. "Auld Lang Syne" sounds, and strangers dressed in glittering clothes weave their hands together and dance, laughing loudly. Couples kiss, happy to see the New Year in with their significant other at their side. The atmosphere is filled with this new sense of promise, as friends and family celebrate together.

The Girl from the Past
A girl I used to know walks up the platform and sits on the bench where I'm sitting. I know her right away. She's the one from my past. I saw her, years ago now. She just disappeared into the background, and became a memory. I pause for a moment, and note how this seemed to happen with so many people that I've once associated with.
