The rain was beautiful today.
It came down stronger than in recent memory.
So fierce the roads were like rivers.
I loved every drop of it.
I beat against it, as it pounded across my skin in slick sheets,
as I felt it cling to me, my shoes and my clothes,
and as it threatened to drown me I felt content.
It was so loud and deafening
that it silenced every other thought
except for the beat of the raindrops and my legs,
pushing and pushing and pushing,
and my breath in and out and in again.
My shoes felt like lakes after,
my clothes hung heavy on me,
and I felt cold and constricted like it wouldn’t let go.
But it felt wonderful, and natural.
So calming and dangerous all at once.
The rain was beautiful today. So was I.
