At Midnight

A Love Poem I Wrote at Midnight

you taste like coffee in the morning,

honey in the golden afternoon.

whiskey in the evening,

and me at midnight.

you attract yaws in the morning,

bees in the sunlit afternoon.

laughter in the evening,

and my sweet kisses at midnight.

you sound like an old engine in the morning; raspy.

bliss in the afternoon.

a boom box in the evening,

and the softest lullaby at midnight

you are bright yellow in the morning,

soft peach in the afternoon.

navy blue in the evening,

and pitch black with the tiniest of stars at midnight.

you smell of fresh mint in the morning,

faded oak tree in the afternoon.

the ocean in the evening,

and dusty moonlight at midnight.
