Are You Okay?

A Poem About Experiences of Mental Illness

Winds of Pain

Why are you having a bad day?

What is it that stops you from being okay?

Why are you sad? What makes you feel so bad?

Why can't you go outside and walk in the sunshine?

How are you feeling? Are you okay?

Why do you want everyone to go away?

All the questions and no answers to give.

No words to explain why she no longer wants to live.

The darkness, the unbearable pain, the thoughts in her head telling her she's better off dead.

Over the months she builds up the walls, hides how she feels, the suicidal thoughts are to her believed and real.

She's so ill from pretending everything's fine that the only way out is to step across that line.

To make it stop.

Tick Tock.
