Anxiety

The Deep Dive into One's Thoughts

Anxiety was starting to make its presence known, mocking her every move.

It made her feel like she had something to prove.

Her stomach started to churn as if she was spinning ‘round and ‘round.

The eerie presence she knew all too well was waiting for her to break down.

She stared up at her ceiling, watching the shadow her fan cast.

There was a voice always reminding her nothing good ever lasts.

The thoughts in her head seemed so real she started to believe lie after lie.

Why am I never enough; why can’t I just die?

Flipping onto her side, she stared at the pale walls in her room similar to a prison cell;

She felt like she was in hell.

As blank as the wall was, she felt as if she could relate.

The air surrounding her didn’t feel right; she could feel the hate.

The paint over the original color on the wall was hiding its perfection.

She placed her hand on it and felt a connection.

Her fingers ran over cracks as she glides her hands across the wall.

No matter how much paint the cracks were covered in, they would never be completely masked at all.

Just like the cracks, April had her own.

She hated her cracks, she felt so alone.

When people pointed them out, she covered her flaws like people paint over walls.
