Anxiety
A Poem I Wrote About Anxiety and the Power It Holds Over Us
I hate you
I hate everything about you
I hate how you make me feel like
I am in a closed space with no air
You are a jail cell
You trap me in a place that is
as dark as a black hole
You imprison me without a way out
I am as trapped as a bird in a cage
You are vile
You make me feel as cursed
as Egyptian maledictions
This should be nothing but sinful
I do not deserve this feeling of panic
You are sickening
Time stops as fast as a lightning
bolt strikes the earth’s grounds
Life stops for me and I am left
Stranded in a world alone
You are atrocious
You make me feel as depressed
as those who want to end their life
I get nauseous and dizzy, the room
Becomes real as it spins and dances
You are hurtful
My breathing stops as quick
as a runner moves from the starting line
to the finish line
My heart slows down as my breathing stops
I hate you
I hate how you make me feel
As though I am going to die
Of a heart attack on spot
I hate you
I hate what you do to me
I hate how you prevent me
From asking people questions
I hate you
I hate how you make me feel
As though I need to separate
Myself from society so I am not annoying
I hate you
I hate how you control me
Everyone has a demon
It just so happens that you are mine
