Anatomy of a Girl

I always wondered what I'd look like on the inside if I was cut open... I think my soul would be black. Dark. Or maybe... empty. An endless void of every mistake I made in my life.

Open heart surgery

Everyone trying to purge me

Of the things that only I see

Like they want to be me

But what they need from me is but a broken dream

Lost in the sea of my painful memories

A time of innocence that cannot be redeemed

Like an offer seen on TV

My mind a meaningless eternity

Drowning in the riptides of insanity

My life written like a soap opera story

Life becoming my mental complexity

Lost the sight of my ability

And what I have foreseen

Is my existence becoming history

I am a complete mystery

A girl behind the scenes

Watching her dreams come true on a television screen

Yes, this is she

The girl of smoke and steam
