Among Roses

Growing from and Forgiving the Honesty of Another

By Noah RodriguezPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

When I searched

inside

even the deepest part

I saw

that my heart

held only intricately woven roses

a lattice of thorns

and I couldn’t grasp whether to mourn or to

marvel

at the gentle, yet fragile

purity.

Suddenly

when a benevolent truth

from some troubled

but honest

cloud

poured its worries on the soil there

the thorns melted away to reveal a timid brown teardrop

wrapped in loneliness

a promise of a strong and invincible

yellow

flower

Daffodil among the roses

Though I seem to have

ascended the sky

and

placed new roots among the

moon and stars

with the roses

I will always remain

intertwined.
