Almost

"Growth" - Ink on Bristol (2017) by Emily Hale

Almost is a word

Best served when trying to

Come up with a reason for

Denouncing your responsibility

Even though you know

Falsified reasoning can only lead

Gradually down the slippery slope.

Heed my words

It’s not too late.

Justice will prevail in the end.

Keep moving forward and remember to

Lean on others even when you think the

Moment may not call for it.

No one deserves

Open-ended conversations that only confuse them.

Pulsating hearts in their chest can only continue it’s

Quest until time

Runs out.

Stand on your own

Two feet and don’t let the mass leave you

Undefined, making you

Veer off the beaten path you’ve built over years

Walking in the shadow of those before you, find the light.

Xanthic streaks of solar rays

Yield to caress the hopeful’s face and clear the

Zaffre stain from their eyes.
