Alligator Teeth

A Poem

Have to stand tall,

Have to keep strong.

Have to fight it off,

Have to hold on.

Afraid to look at what is beneath,

It’s too dark to see under these sheets.

She used to have a red-rose wreath,

God save her from these alligator teeth.

Sweet child,

Don’t worry about the black and blue.

I swear,

Pain looks good on you.

Afraid to see the blood beneath,

God save her from these alligator teeth.

Have to fight back,

Have to find the line drawn.

Have to catch my breath.

Have to remember right and wrong.

Have to fight back or have to move on …
