All in the Green Eyes of a Stranger

"Like the Sky When It’s Silver Green"

Like the sky when it’s silver green

Flashing and thundering before a storm

When the wind whistles and shrieks

Whipping the waves into new forms

When the sea ebbs and flows

Reaching and stretching onto land

A gentle green foam drags on the shore

Bubbling and bursting on the sand

Bursting like my soul

When our eyes meet

And see all of this—

Tumultuous wind, skies, and sea

I catch his glance and I'm caught off guard

By the power in his eyes

Compounding like the storm

That rumbles and quakes the skies

And suddenly I'm like the wind

Spinning and breathless

Whipped into a frenzy

In a haze, smiling senseless

I'm falling into his eyes

As I step calmly away

Swept off into this silver green sea

For that one brief moment in my day

And I can't help but look back

To whirl through the wind one last time

Before snapping back into reality

Wishing those eyes were still looking into mine
