Advice From Society

The World We Live In

When you love gracefully,

Truly, exponentially,

it's wonderful

Do not tell people for they tend to ruin the beautiful,

When you travel never take the road less used,

Stay off the shambled beaten path left abused,

It's best to stick with familiarity,

We don't know how to appreciate rarity ',

When you smile,

Keep it even if only a while,

People like happy,

No one wants to know if you're sad,

Or mad,

So keep a happy face,

and know your place

When your heart is breaking,

When fear leaves you shaking,

Not a word is to be spoken,

For people do not know how to handle the broken,

When you have mental illness,

When you're falling alone in your stillness,

Don't tell society before it is too late,

We don't care about your fate,

Only when you die will we believe you,

Then say we wish there was something more we could do,

When you see injustice turn a blind eye,

If nobody sees it nobody has to cry,

Watch as they shoot up another school,

Give the killer fame so another kid thinks it's cool,

See that rich man as he slips another drug into her drink,

Don't give it another thought don't even think,

Always victim blame,

Or else you're fair game,

When you see a homeless man begging for some change,

And you don't know what to say,

Turn the other way,

Empathy has lost its place,

Compassion an unfamiliar face,

When you hear the screams,

Of every war victim's unachieved dreams,

Just tune out with some reality TV,

Watch little children inherit obesity,

But don't tell them to get healthy,

Instead buy more fast food,

To lighten up your mood,

When you hear of slave labor pretend that it's ok ,

It doesn't happen not in your country anyway,

When you think you know what's best,

You better put it to the test,

Ask social media if it's ok,

Do exactly what they say,

Swipe left or right on another dating app,

Look for love through a phone screen,

Then wonder why your dates are never cut and clean,

When you question why society is so crappy,

Don't let others see you're unhappy,

Fake it 'til you Make it,

Go on and get a degree,

It's the only acceptable form of knowledge we see,

Remember passion isn't gonna pay your bills,

So get a well paying job even if it kills,

Follow these steps to keep things running smooth and clean,

Be a functional cog in the machine,

Say goodbye to the person you could be,

And instead say hello to person you should be,

This is society,

So go on and fake a smile,

You're gonna be here a while
