Adventure
What are you going to do with this one and precious life you are given?
Adventure is not an action.
Adventure is an attitude.
It is a way of perceiving, of feeling, of engaging with life.
The greatest adventures are not in the movement, the chaos, or the extravagance.
Rather, the greatest adventures lie in learning how to be still, how to tread gently and kindly on this earth.
Adventure is a mindset.
And the longer we spend looking for it outside of us,
The further away our internal gaze strays.
I do not need.
I already have.
I have abundantly, deep in my bones.
What are you going to do with this one rare and precious life?
Actually, it doesn’t really matter.
The only thing that matters is this:
Did I enjoy?
Did I enjoy the explorations, the risks, the thrilling excitement of the unknown?
Did I enjoy the routine, the monotonous, the familiar?
Did I adventure?
Adventure not in my body,
But adventure in my heart.
Did I wake up each morning
And notice the nuanced transformation in my aging face?
Did I wake up each morning
Dumbfounded that water pours effortlessly from my faucet?
Did I wake up each morning
With a deep stillness of admiration and reverence
For this grand adventure
That is simply…
Life.
