A Young Woman and the Milk Pot

As Fate Would Have It...

A young woman was walking in the forest,

carrying a milk on her head in earthed pot

remembering her mother’s words:

“Sell it and buy whatever you want with it.”

She twirled around in excitement and

made a list in her mind and big feast

while walking the forest she met a boy.

With sad face, he stopped her by wrist.

“Can I get water please.” But the young woman

thought and said, “I am sorry. I’ve milk and I’m sellin’”

“But I don’t have money,” he looked hopefully. She thought,

I can’t give him ‘cause I’ll not have money to bring in.

“No,” she said and scurried away from little boy.

She turned and looked behind.

over a fallen branch; she stumbled

and the earthen pot scattered, whitening the green ground.

the boy extended hands; “Are you hurt?” he mummbled.

“No,” she cried. “My pot!”

Some pieces of earthen milk pot; she gathered but in vain

She then realized and regretted her greed and her answer.

She cried, with guilt, again and again.
