A Verisimilitude Day Modern "Adventurer"

The pictures say that you have been there;

#Intrepid Modern Day Traveller.

You’ve read the blogs,

Bought your clogs,

Booked your flights,

and sampled the delights

Of ‘The Lonely Book’

A temporary bible for the

#Intrepid Modern Day Traveller.

Standing proud in front of that building;

#Selfie!

Standing proud upon that Beach;

#Selfie!

Standing proud where you’re bloody-well told too

By the peers of social media paradox

#Selfie!

#Selfie!

#Selfie!

Then share your fucking #Selfie!

quickly on social media

To last for eternity

Before it becomes obsolete.

Missing totally the moment,

Turned away 180 degrees,

#MakingMemories

When perhaps the meaning

has already washed away,

It was living right behind you,

But instead you chose to obey

technologies fucking drawl

each and every day.

Living neither here nor there,

or there nor here,

But never in-between

Never stopping

Just to glean

Life all around

So broken,

but yet,

So pristine.

[Footnote]

Verisimilitude – Something that has the appearance of being true or real.

About the Creator

Tom Cartledge

I love to write, talk, and occasionally listen. Expect all-sorts of stuff from travel writing; booze related rambles; my wondering mind & wandering words streaking across your page, often in too verbose a manner.
