She is sand
Trapped in a glass
Tilted this way and that
By the hand of God
She is water
Trickling over rocks
Built into an Earth
That will never understand her
She is a volcano
In my head
Spewing red hot
Magma that I can never forget
She is a cool wind
Raising goosebumps on my skin
Cold and caring
Like air is all we need
She is a secret
One I’m scared to tell
Rejection or worse, acceptance
Locked up tight in my soul
She is the sun
Warming everything I see
With a presence she doubts so much
Everything shines
She is darkness
The kind that chokes me in the night
And yet I beg for it to stay
Because I crave the touch
She is everything
And I’m beginning to realize
I cannot have everything
And keep her happy
She is herself
All that I want
Even if she never understands
Even if she never sees
