A Sovereign Thing

Who is it that knows the that the ego stands

As the chief executive officer of the soul?

Or when the mind functions and then demands

For the selfish person to be made whole?

Self-interest is the only answer to

Calamities and strife of the spirit.

Selfishness echoes absolute and true.

But the sound is made for those who hear it.

Clarion calls for self-preservation

Still ring out in the thoughts of a real one.

It is with the signs of reservation

That selfishness should be not left undone.

The self is a sovereign thing that exists.

But only in the one who just persists.
