A Song for My Love's Funeral

A Small Poem

You'll float with me gently to the heavens

Severed of our beautiful wings

I think we'll stay there forever

Far into the northern lights

Those aurora washing tears from my eyes

Your splendor will blind me to the world

And carry me onward to this next life

I'll be here forever

Belonging to that organ within your breast

You've set me free

Showing me emotions that I never believed

A tyrant god clipped these wings

And enemies will grab at our feet

But we will ascend past them

And leave them behind so bittersweet

There is this place we will fly too

Far beyond the clasp of this world

Where we can rest our heads on one another

And welcome these coming future eons

Never alone

I'll be there with you at the edge of this universe

And when our bodies rot into the soil

And an elder sun destroys the earth

Well join the cosmos as stardust

And be born anew
