A Silent Mirage

With you silence was comfortable

I could have built my life within our silence

and lived contently, happily

knowing glances and quiet kisses

at times words were entirely unnecessary

finding myself tangled in sheets and your arms

with only the sound of our breath

to disrupt the perpetual silence

felt right,

undeniably so

the I love you’s, you didn't say were the ones I

heard the loudest

and felt the deepest

our words

tore away our silent mirage

shattering it

replacing it with a cruel reality

in which, love alone was not enough

and we crumbled amongst the deafening noise we had created.
