when at first you were created
and for many months you grew
I felt you there inside me
as closer our meeting date drew
when I brought you to the world
through pain and love I welcomed you
what started out as one
carved itself into two
with every fevered moment
every illness you fight through
every tiny piece of pain you feel
I am feeling too
with every milestone and achievement
small things I watch you do
you're discovering the world
and I am seeing it anew
from the first small fleeting blinks you took
every moment you live through
how to show you just how dear you are
if only you knew
how beautiful you are to me
like untouched snow or morning dew
such precious and pure joy you bring
my heart belongs to you
for my children
