A Mixture of Pride and Prejudice

Where Arrogance and Ignorance Intersect

the heart that beats within me,

the same within us all,

you stab at me and at yourself,

you're surely bound to fall,

it's not bred it's always learned,

but they say inexplicably,

that there's no way someone like you

could learn to be like me.

for something deep within us all,

is different and can't be changed,

intrinsically my kind is better than yours,

to think differently you must be deranged.

so I asked for proof,

and all you had were expletives

to hurl at me, spit at me.

communication broke down and all we were left with was a bitter taste in our mouths.

we bolstered down,

dug deeper into our trenches and stayed there,

unable to come to terms with the fact that,

my life is worth the same as yours.

life is beautiful, painful, mysterious.
