A Lost Friend

You know who you are

I really am better off without you, even though I thought I wouldn't be.

We have great memories. You were my closest friend. I told you everything first before I told my other friends.

I knew you loved me. I still think you do. If I were a god you would kiss the ground I walk on.

Your biggest fear was losing me because you told me everything. All of your secrets that no one else knew. Very precious secrets.

And you lost me.

I have no regrets doing what I did to you. You deserved what you got. I had my suspicions and I was right about one thing, but had no clue about the other.

And that's how you lost me.

I thought about the bad times more often than the good. How possessive you were. The rifts between me and my best friends that all of us were tangled into.

You hurt them in more ways than others. You used them to forget about feelings for me that you knew could never be ignored.

I hope they've been ignored now.

I've thought about making things better with you. But I can't. Things just can't go back to the way they used to be. The damage has been done. My respect goes to my best friend and it forever will go to her. I hope you know that.

The best you can do is remember the good and never forget the bad.

I hope you change. And I hope I'm not there to see it.
