Starting with you.

A list of things I’d love to forget

The amount of freckles on your face -

Was it, 23 or 24?

14 - wait, no, 15 was

the amount of birthmarks on your arms,

including the one behind your ear you didn't know existed.

5 - The number of scars on your arms put together, and the amount of tattoos you had before I left.

I remember these things for you and more.

When you yelled, and

When you crushed glass in your hand to prove a point

And when I cut mine right after out of anger, just for us to bandage each other up.

Buying coconut ice cream just to let it melt while we yelled at each other in the parking lot -

Making breakfast together and ignoring each other for days.

I remember.

I remember being too scared to leave

because you threatened your life,

because you said nobody would love me like you did.

Nobody would care about me like you did.

Broken knuckles and bloody teeth,

I remember

Your fist being so close to my face and me not flinching an inch.

I remember these things for you.

I look for these scars on everyone else when I hold their chest,

So you can forget.
