A Lesson

A Man Named Red

You are a magician.

Able to exist in many places at onceFull of tricksA man with many faces

In the tradition of men in my life, you liedYou filled my mind with empty promises & false hopeWords flowing in my ears like a beautiful song you wrote just for me

At the beginning, you treated me how I longed to be treatedEvery touch— smoothEvery kiss— passionateEvery moan— realEvery word— believed

I can still taste you when I close my mouthI can still feel your hand around my neckI can't seem to expel you from my mind

You were not the blessing I thought you were, but the lesson I never knew I needed.

What a twist of fate."What luck. What a fucking curse."
