A Firefly in a World of Mosquitoes
This is a poem about a girl that owns my heart and doesn't even know it.
Melted Chocolate met Steele Emerald on Septemer 5, 2017.
That day your eye color became my favorite color.
You started appearing everywhere I looked.
When your name was mentioned I perked up.
When your face came into view, I smiled and blushed when you made eye contact with me.
When you laughed my heart did flips.
When your voice reached my ears all of my attention turned to you.
When you mentioned in Sunday school class how you had a boyfriend I went home and exploded in anger and pain.
You inspire me to become a better person, a gentler person.
Just the thought of you makes me calm down and smile.
You're the first thing I think of in the morning and the last thing I think of at night.
You're in my dreams, hell, you are my dream girl.
I didn't know anything about what I wanted in a person until you came into my life and by chance, you are everything I could ever want or need.
You are flawed, as am I, but those flaws make me love you even more.
I have never loved someone as strong as I do you now.
Never have I told my friends, even my closest of friends, about past crushes but all of my friends know your favorite candy by now.
You are a Firefly, flashing your light and drawing me away from the mosquitoes sucking the life out of me.
And if somehow you find this and want to let me down easy, it's alright, you don't have to.
I knew from the moment that you forgot my favorite candy after the third time I told you that you would always mean more to me than I did to you.
