A Face Under Water

Hearts Didn't Stop, Breaths Didn't Falter

When I look into your reflection, I see me.

She was like a face under water

And when at sunset, the rays fell on her.

They made her shine, made her glimmer

But that was just the surface

Just like the stone at sunset which seems to shimmer at its face,

Yet remains gray underneath.

The clouds kissed her head and yet the ground firmly under her feet

He was like a face under water

Always so transparent and yet always so pellucid

He was always right there and yet he was so elusive.

Like a face under water, her face folded with the waves

And yet it stood still, without any rants or any raves.

Like a face under water his face folded with the waves

And yet it stood still like a lily white, emotionless but with a heart that craves.

Their eyes would often meet and presently pass over,

That one look would take them from Denver to Dover

But never once did it affect them, unlike what people claim.

Hearts didn’t stop, breaths didn’t falter

What could they do? They were just two faces under water.
