A Dream's Reality

A Poem About Internal Demons

Into the darkness

She went without fear

To the demons and zombies

With whom she longed to be near

They called and she came

And she went without care

There was nothing left in her heart

She had no feelings to bear

The calls became louder

The pulls became stronger

But she did not resist

As they began to surround her

They tore at her flesh

They fed from her soul

And as they tore at her dress

She began to feel cold

Her body went numb

Her head started to spin

Her mind told her to run

But everything was too dim

She slowly gave into the darkness

And she was to no longer be known

As she welcomed the darkness

She began to wish she were home

It began to grow silent

She was trapped all alone

No one knows where she went

She would never come home

Now she’s trapped for eternity

Full of guilt and shame

Hoping for a miracle

But none ever came.
