A Death of Love

I know this love will be the death of me...

Our lust will not last for eternity.

Though your lips are all I want each dark night,

I know this love will be the death of me.

A few hours before you must set me free,

My regret and your shame will show in light,

Our lust will not last for eternity.

Affections will fade, passions fail and flee,

Jealousy sparks a fire of hateful spite,

I know this love will be the death of me.

Though some believe in ties and would agree

That two hearts can soar in eternal flight;

Our lust will not last for eternity.

She is your constant, I the changing sea,

Your promise to her shines far more bright;

I know this love will be the death of me.

No hope left for men, for fidelity,

Once I have nothing left for his delight.

Our lust could not last for eternity.

I knew this love would be the death of me.
