She’s building it
Unknowingly
Through words and liquid
Has the toxin replaced her blood?
Does she not see she’s falling apart?
Like a decaying zombie in the sun
But has her heart rotted too?
Moldy from misuse and abuse-
Has it made her numb?
It has certainly made her dumb
The words that spew from her mouth
Foul, fiery, fearsome
Made only worse by the poison
Nonstop she goes, like a pendulum
Back and forth but never forward
Can’t you see them?
Falling away like leaves on an autumn tree
Of course you cannot, you're blind
It’s stripped away any vision of love, hope, or happiness
Chasing that unreachable butterfly
Don’t you know that’s no butterfly?
For its wings are blackened, face pale and white
It holds a silver scythe as she draws ever near,
She’s building it
But does she know?
