A Break-Up Letter (Me to My Bed)

The daily struggle when I have to get out of bed.

Dear Bed,

How devious can you be?

Figuring out just how to hold me, keep me and caress my body so perfectly

Effortlessly interlocking our bodies to create a beautiful jigsaw puzzle

With you, I simply can’t resist,

You constantly put me in a comatose state where a simple task as going to the bathroom is complicated

I don’t want to leave this safe haven

In shielding me from the cold your supple body adheres to mine

Making my mind go crazy, temporarily distorting me

Formulated thoughts push me into an alternate reality where it is only you and I

It’s crazy!! How can I want you and no one else?

This correlation should solely exist on a nightly basis

But somehow within my mid-morning schedule, your presence evades my mind

You have me in the night… now you want me in the day as well?

I try to run away, using social media and work to block this force, but this obsession keeps tormenting my mind having me race back to you

Stop it!! I’m serious!! Quit doing these things that make me continually pursue you

I know you can’t stop, but try to make it less evident

Why do you to chase this relationship?

I’m already taken

You’re fighting a losing battle; you’ll always be sharing me with someone else.

Please don’t get upset or use your mind games to make me stay

I’m leaving and if you don’t comply, I’ll have to get a restraining order.

Sincerely,

DP
