21st Century Reverance
My One & Only Political Post
I understand the media is best when at their worst
Up from John P. Zenger down to William Randolph Hearst.
The ratings climb, the story's good- whatever it may be.
And money lives to see that truth's the only casualty.
"Sources said" or "claimed" are mere legalities, at best.
"We are not sure but strive to be in front of all the rest
"With Breaking News. We'll iron out the details soon enough."
-CNN, FOX, NBC, Post; Washington or Huff.
Imagine, for a moment, Paul Revere upon his ride-
His horse in gallop just beneath him, making healthy strides,
"The British," Paul would call with grit, "are coming," he would say.
What would the implications be if he had rode today?
"The Brits- are they engaging in explicit acts of sex?"
"Is 'Brits' a term we want to use in moments of unrest?"
"The Brits versus The Grits, tonight America weighs in."
"Results are in and 'Brits' is racist; 'Grits' new 'American.'"
"Is Paul Revere a Britaphobe? Is Revolution wrong?"
"Eminem calls Paul Revere 'a fag' in his new song!"
I bet the British would invade- I bet you they would win.
Our citizens would be too busy pointing out their sins.
The congressmen would make their statements- media would say:
"What Happened That We Lost the War?" "How Are We HERE Today?"
The meek would grab their tissues as the journalists would delve.
They'd fill up several issues but would fail to blame themselves.

Paul Forshtay
I’ve been writing all my life, but have never really sought publication by any means.
I’ve written an obituary once.
Apart from that, rant-riddled Facebook posts and endless reams of paper scattered about the States are all I’ve got.
