Your Body Is a Temple

A Poem to Empower Those with Vulvas

Your body is a temple.

Temple, noun: "a building devoted to worship, or regarded as the dwelling place, of a god or gods or other objects of religious reverence."

My hymen is the veil that is torn to reach the Holy of Holies.

Within me is the closest you will ever be to God.

My redemption is the blood my womb sheds each month

My worship is when my legs shake and the words "oh my God" drip like honey from my lips.

You will find Holy water between my legs.

With each wave of pleasure, forgiveness comes, renewal comes, letting go comes.

A brand new soul can flourish and grow within my womb if I please

The blood that I shed each month is what has created life ever since the beginning of time.

I did not come from your rib

You came from my ancient mother’s womb and you will come from my womb.

I am sacred.

I am a portal for life.

I am light.

I am a part of who you call God.

My body is a temple.

Not the kind you were taught about

Unlike that temple,

I'm unbreakable.

-I am my savior, I have always been my own savior.
