We Can't Eat Money

How much more damage do we have to cause before this is realized?

When will they learn that we can’t eat money?

Maybe when there’s no more trees worth cutting

Or when the fish all float up and turn

Or the pollution causes the earth to erupt and burn

When the great land I call home is no more

When the forest has fallen to the dried-up floor

Pipelines transporting “liquid money” for miles,

Bursting and killing everything worthwhile

Because the big man in charge doesn’t care for the land

Where we see nature, he sees another hundred grand

Because the money-making corporations don’t agree with green living

They take and take and remain unforgiving

Now...

What’s in store for the human race?

Maybe when all that’s left on earth is money,

They’ll finally realize,

It has an awful taste
