Two Kids in a Castle
A Regret Worth Sharing
I never let you touch me after you first let me go.
You played with me in the park;
snow surrounding us like sand on the beach
as we sat on swings and discovered each other’s sense of humor.
Our laughs traveling along with the trails of our stomps
that were left in the snow.
As we wandered around the next thing I know,
we are climbing walls and crawling through tunnels
like the children that played here before us.
We are now in a cylinder of sexual tension
and I tell you with my eyes that it’s okay to kiss me.
You went for my mouth but landed on my neck.
I should have known from that,
that if a boy kisses you for the first time
on anywhere other than your lips,
It means he is not very interested in kissing you at all.
But a lonely 17-year-old that spends their days
and nights at home
will take any form of affection they can get.
Especially if it be from a new friend.
Skin exposed; I am giving you the moment
you have anticipated since you realized you were attracted to me.
You don’t feel the effects of 35 degree weather
when your crush has you breathing heavily.
His warm hands juxtaposing my chilled bones.
A safe haven of hot air and warm skin.
In this cobblestone castle absent of kids,
we were the only ones playing that night.
