The Gift
He dreams of places beyond the stars.
Why should he smile
The boy
He is poverty
With broom in hand
He feels no pain
No anger
And no fear of the unknown
He dreams of places beyond the stars
And bears a gift that no one knows
He lies at night with no sleep at thought
The gift of being is what he brought
He came to us being one
But not the same
Our need overtook
His want never became
Fatigued and frail
His temporal body will decay
He waits with his soul
To return and replenish his gift
The boy
He is poverty
And he is manna
He smiles
And then he dies
Awaiting our occasion
