Superwoman

A Poem for My Superwoman, My Mom

The second oldest of six,

She grew up in the same town as me but with a lot less

Before this town was made such a mess,

Before all the drugs, violence, and murders we brought into the mix

Time flew by,

She fell in love and married in the year 1986

She has endured many years of unnecessary conflicts

Raised a family of five, it was hard I won't lie

Through the years she watched her city crumble,

Hoping their lives wouldn't be too rough,

She prayed she had taught her kids enough,

So a little bump wouldn't trigger a stumble.

One could say this was all a test,

So much bottled up and no one to tell,

Living the majority of her days in a living hell,

But held it together with very little rest.

One could scythes was all a test,

And I would have to say she did her best.
