Supernova

Just like a star

experiencing a supernova,

when I self destruct-

when the entirety of my being collapses-

when the darkness swallows me-

I bring light to others;

my pain

becomes my experience,

their hope.

I yearn to be

like that star,

my light shining upon this world

long after I leave it.

You can say

that I won’t change the world,

but I believe

that I will-

with the love,

the kindness,

and the compassion

that I earn

through these cycles

of life and death,

of joy and pain.

Mighty tools

may be found in

simple love,

patient and understanding kindness,

and unconditional compassion.

These have the power

to create monumental impact

in the lives of others,

in our dark and broken world.

And often,

we’ll never know

just how great that impact is.
