Sunlight from Another Life

She bathed herself beneath...

She bathed beneath the gorgeous summer light that seemed to shine from another life

Stretched out beneath the vast shades of green leaves that mimicked whispers she had heard before

“This won’t last much longer…” whistled the wind that teased through her hair

“She knows…” sang the birds that flew between the past and the present

Taking a gasp of the teasing air, she says

“I know I’ve breathed this life before”

She could hear the distant echoes of a motorcycle speeding down the deserted country road even though she was far far away from it all

She knew that the days she lived now are reminiscent of old ones

Each passing hour, she could feel the perpetual aching of her heart grow stronger

With every fallen leaf or silent chirp

And how the blue of the sky keeps draining every other day

It was almost time to drape the grey tarp over this life

And tuck the memories away

But she continued to bathe herself in the sinking summer light that seemed to shine from another life
