This Earth
This Earth we walk on
All over with our boots and our heels, and our grinding toes
This Earth sustains us
Her angry tenants; complaining about the heat and the lights
This Earth loves us
No matter how we beat her and strip her and plunder her soil
This Earth remains
If only we could accept that she is all we have,
This Earth will die
If we can't look past our greed and our oil and our money
This Earth is home
And she will give us all she has even until the last moment
This Earth is ours
See her, adore her, care for her as she has selflessly done for us.

The Business of Nature
Dew drops reflected the light of the sun. The inhabitants of Whispering Woods woke up to the golden droplets of water on the leaves of the flora. The oaks particularly enjoyed the light and the maples did, too. Happiness enveloped all who lived there, even the rocks that cried out in the night delighted in the morning.
