Pages of Mystery

A Poem

Pages of mystery

Rest on the bracket

I walk along side of it

Running my

Hand down the

Spines of the

Immobile teachers

Carefully I take my pick

And observe the front

I proceed to my cathedra

And crack open the

Knowledge of thousands

Of years

Carefully, I scrutinize

The works of the writer

Observing every utterance

The man had once spoke

Or thought

I realize time has

Slipped by me

So I conclude my lesson

And return my teacher

To his place on the mantle

There he will patiently wait

And anticipate his next class

I take one final gander at the front

And place my book back on the shelf
